Some Buffalo can weigh up to 2,000 pounds, while wildebeest only weighs around 400 pounds. There are three types of buffalo: The African buffalo, The American buffalo and The Water buffalo

The African buffalo is also known as the Cape buffalo, while the American buffalo is also known as the bison.

The African buffalo is much larger than the American buffalo, weighing up to 1,000 kilograms. They have a dark brown or black hide, and their horns can grow up to 70 centimetres long. African buffaloes are found in woodlands and savannas across sub-Saharan Africa.

The American buffalo is smaller than the African buffalo, weighing up to 300 kilograms. They have a shaggy brown coat, and their horns are much shorter, only growing up to 30 centimetres long. American buffaloes are found in North America, primarily in grasslands and prairies.

The water buffalo is found in Asia and is closely related to the bison.

While both African and American buffaloes are herbivores that eat grasses, the African variety is more likely to attack humans if provoked. This makes them more dangerous than their American cousins, who are generally docile creatures.
