What are monkeys?
Monkeys are a type of primate, which is a mammal with opposable thumbs. Monkeys have long tails. Monkeys live in trees and eat insects.
What are apes?
There are many different types of apes, but they are generally divided into two groups: Great apes and Lesser apes. Great apes include gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, and bonobos. Lesser apes include gibbons and siamangs.
Apes are found in Africa, Asia, and parts of South America. They are primates, which means they are related to monkeys, lemurs, and humans. All primates have certain characteristics in common, such as forward-facing eyes, flexible fingers and toes with nails instead of claws, and the ability to grasp things with their hands.
Apes are considered to be more intelligent than monkeys because they can make and use tools, they have better memories, and they can learn to communicate using sign language or other symbols.
